Film Wedding Photography in Georgia & the Southeast — Documentary & Film-Forward
I photograph weddings primarily on film because it truly changes how the day feels, not just how the photos look.
Film slows things down. It asks for intention. It asks me to wait, to notice, to trust what’s unfolding instead of trying to control it. That way of working shapes everything about how I photograph a wedding day, from the pacing to the kinds of moments I’m drawn to.
I’m based in Macon, Georgia, and photograph weddings throughout Georgia and the Southeast. My work is documentary at its core, with film and digital used together to tell the story of the day as it actually happened.
Why Film Matters to Me on a Wedding Day
Film isn’t about nostalgia just for the sake of nostalgia. It’s about restraint and intentionality.
When I’m shooting film, I’m not chasing volume. I’m paying attention to light, movement, and the spaces between moments. Film handles skin tones gently. Highlights fall off naturally. Colors feel honest instead of pushed.
I tend to reach for film during quieter parts of the day. Think portraits, transitions, moments where emotion is already present and doesn’t need direction. The result is imagery that feels calm, grounded, and lived in rather than polished or performative.
Digital photography still plays an important role. It allows flexibility when things move quickly and ensures full coverage without interruption. Together, film and digital create a complete record of the day without overwhelming it.
How This Changes the Experience for You
Being photographed on film feels different, even if you can’t quite put your finger on why in the moment.
There’s less constant clicking. Less stopping and starting. More room to stay present. I’ll step in when guidance is helpful, especially during portraits or family photos, but much of the day is photographed as it unfolds naturally.
Couples often tell me they felt less like they were “in a photoshoot” and more like they were actually living their wedding day. That’s exactly the point. Film encourages trust. Trust in the process, in the timing, and in the moments themselves.
Photographing Weddings in Georgia & the Southeast
I’m based in Macon, GA, and regularly photograph weddings in Middle Georgia, including Macon, Warner Robins, Milledgeville, and surrounding towns. I also work throughout the state and region, including Atlanta, Athens, Savannah, Augusta, and North Georgia, as well as parts of South Carolina like Augusta-area venues, Columbia, Lexington, and Aiken.
Shooting weddings across the Southeast has shaped how I work. Whether it’s a historic space like the Hay House in Macon, the scale and light of Sacred Heart Cultural Center in Augusta, or a more modern venue like the Museum of Arts and Sciences, I’m always thinking about how the environment affects the rhythm of the day and how film responds to that space.
Film adapts well to these settings. It doesn’t overpower them. It lets places feel like themselves.
Prints, Albums, and Tangible Work
Photographs aren’t meant to live only on a screen.
I offer fine art prints and custom photo books for couples who want something physical to return to over time. Film photographs especially shine in print. The texture, the grain, the subtle color shifts all make more sense when you can hold them.
Many couples decide on prints or albums after their wedding, once they’ve had time to sit with the images. There’s no rush. The option is always there.
Is Film Wedding Photography the Right Fit?
My work tends to resonate with couples who care more about how their wedding felt than how it looked on social media.
If you’re drawn to real moments, natural pacing, and imagery that feels timeless rather than trendy, film might be the right fit. It’s not about perfection or a million photos, it’s about the memory and the feelings of the day.
